Associate Professor in Music

Dr.K.Rukmani received Doctorate (Ph.D) in the year 2014 in the topic "The concept of Raga with special reference to Varna-Mettu"

• Dr.K.Rukmani got intial training in music under her mother since the age of 7. She took Music as a full time course in her graduation and post graduation at Bharatidasan University and secured university Gold medal for both. Along with her academic career she had undergone special training under Sri. S.Subramaniyam a traditional Sangeetha vidwan in Tanjore for 5 years. Later, she took advance training for about 7 years from Smt.Ambujam vedantham, A veteran musician and a celebrated Vaggeyakara in Carnatic music.
• Along with her teaching career. Dr.K.Rukmani is having a wide repertoire in music, She is very keen in upholding an authentic apporach towards 'Patanthara suddham' in music.
• As an academician, she has presented various papers on different topics in many musical seminars and workshops.
• She is a member of Board of studies, Madurai Kamaraj University
